Achievements: Developed successfully a cluster of Trading/Marketing businesses and ground-breaking private gas distribution networks in highly competitive markets, promoting the strategic rationale of energy trading and end-user marketing for the shareholder, developing the market share under controlled economic criteria, to finally become market leader in its businesses, driving a rapidly growing staff (400) through change, handling effective process changes resulting from market liberalisation

1996-1997

Region Manager, North-West Europe, Natural Gas Division, Elf Aquitaine

Achievements: Management of all Gas Marketing activities of Elf in NW Europe; Acquisition of equity stake in a power generator (IPP) in England, with innovative operating and commercial arrangements; Negotiation of a Gas Sales Contract essential for the development of new condensate-rich gas reserves in UKCS; Resolving key issues related to direct access to the UK-Continent Interconnector.

1990-1996

Managing Director, Elf Petroleum Oman (Muscat, Oman)

Achievements: Incremental field development for a better oil recovery in Rub Al Khali area; Evaluation of exploration potential and negotiation of a new exploration license in a challenging environment with a dominant national oil producer.

1986-1990

Equity and Government Crude Oil Acquisition Manager, Elf Aquitaine establishing the commercial interface of the Trading Division with the upstream operating companies, with governments and national companies of producing countries, in West Africa and in the North Sea in particular.

Achievements: Valuation of upstream equity oil production; Negotiation of norm prices and crude oil contract prices, New crude oil buyback contracts and government crude oil spot purchasing.

1979-1986

Natural Gas Division Manager, French Gas Markets, Elf Aquitaine (Paris, France)
Gaz du Sud-Ouest (GSO), Compagnie Française du Méthane (CFM) and underground gas storage sites in south-western France have been operating since the 1950's and are the only private gas networks, transmission and marketing companies in France

Achievements: Marketing of Elf's gas in France; Re-negotiation of Strategic Agreements with Gaz de France, playing a particularly pro-active role for the survival of Elf's gas marketing positions in France (GSO, Compagnie Française du Méthane) despite declining domestic gas reserves and the political context of nationalisation.

1973-1979

Reservoir Engineering Division, Elf Aquitaine Production (Port-Gentil, Gabon and Tripoli, Libya)

Achievements: Reservoir modelling and field operations; Cost effective development of marginal oil fields in Gabon with planning responsibility; Evaluation of  hydrocarbon discoveries with significant sulphur content offshore Libya; Operational negotiations with national company and government technical authority.

1970-1973

Project Manager, Offshore and Arctic Exploration Drilling, Elf Oil Exploration and Production Canada Limited (Calgary & Halifax, Canada)

Achievements: Planning and running a minimum size drilling operation base in adverse climatic environment, with extensive use of outsourcing and advanced IT and communications.

1967-1970

Senior Project Engineer, Offshore Technologies Research & Development Division, Elf Aquitaine (Pau, France)
Project Engineer in charge of Elf's R&D programme on mooring systems for floating drilling rigs and data acquisition systems.

Major Achievements: New offshore technology developments for mooring systems; Design, construction of prototypes and experimentation of anchor piles (drilled, driven or vibrated); Data acquisition systems for sea conditions, platform movements and mooring line resistance.
